CDO is regarded as the Gateway to Northern Mindanao, and the City of White Water Rafting and River Trekking. The city is famous for the Macahambus Cave and Gorge, the San Agustin Metropolitan Church, La Castilla Museum, Gardens of Malasag Eco-Tourism Village, and Plaza Divisoria.

The city of Koronadal is the capital of the province of South Cotabato. Marawi, which is an Islamic city, is part of the province of Lanao del Sur and is its capital. Siargao Island
