Top lensmen use Samsung cameras for digital edge

Timing and an eye for good composition are essential to photography. However, the output won’t come out as envisioned by the photographer in the absence of proper equipment. In recent years, many have tried their hand at digital photography and learned how new technology can improve their craft.

Six of the country’s renowned lensmen recently exhibited some of their works as captured through Samsung Digimax cameras at the Rockwell Powerplant Mall. Participating photographers in the exhibit dubbed “Eyes of the World” were travel photography guru George Tapan; portraitist Wyg Tysmans; photojournalist and glamour photographer Bobot Meru; advertising photographer Francis Abraham; fashion lensman Xander Angeles; and promising newcomer Anton Sheker.

Tapan and Tysmans have tapped digital technology for the convenience it offers. “It’s a handy tool to have around,” Tysmans said, adding it is also a great backup “just in case something happens to your other cameras.”

Visitors to the exhibit get a feel of the Samsung Digimax line.
Sheker, who has been shooting with digital cameras since the late ’90s believes that digital technology “will only get better. There’s always room for improvement.”

As for Mr. Abraham, using digital camera has been quite beneficial. “The turnover of work is very fast, so the assignments are also very fast,” he said.

Samsung offers Digimax 202, with a 2-megapixel ratio, is recommended for students and neophyte photographers while the “fun” camera Digimax U-CA3, with a 3-megapixel ratio, suits yuppies the best. The latter also has 9x zoom, MPEG-4 movie cli[p, clear 1.5″ TFT LCD monitor, superb macro and the world first 3D Avatar loading screen. Corporate professionals looking for at least a 4-megapixel range can choose from the following: Digimax V4000, Digimax 430 and DIgimax 401. For serious professional photographers, there is the Digimax V5 which has a 5-megapixel ratio and the world-class Schneider lens. It also offers 12x zoom, VGA 30fps movie clip with audio, manual focus and manual exposure, superb 5 cm macro, voice memo in still images, optical viewfinder, 1.5″ color TFT LCD monitor and the world’s first multi-battery (nine different power sources).
