Power Saving Tips to Extend Battery Life on your Iphone 3G

I just got my iPhone a few days and back am discovering a lot of things.. I love the phone and the loads of features it has but will talk about that later on. At this point, I would like to talk about extending your battery life for the iPhone 3G.. with my usage my battery gets zapped in about 5 hours.. so if you are out the whole day.. your better find some alternative power source to give your phone some juice!

Here is the list of things you can do to extend battery life on your iphone.

• Keep your usb charger portable so you can plug in your laptop or desktop or even plug in your friends office if you are headed to a meeting.
• Keep a Car charger handy when on the road - note: when buying i the car charger test it before leaving the car park. I had to change the unit i got because it wasnt working.

• Set your Mail to Fecth Data at specific intervals or even set it to Manual check to conserve the battery power, you can also turn off the push email services so mail will follow the the fetch data time intervals that you set globally.

• Only Check your important Emails, we all know spam takes a huge chunk of our mailbox so lets keep it at bay and keep those not so important emails out of our inbox. Remember putting too email accounts on the phone wil require more power since it will try to connect to each and every server for mail.
• Avoid Playing Games! besides wasting time, they also waste and drain the power of your iPhone! There are even some games that use location based services and drains your power too.
• If you want to play games, Turn off the Vibration to conserve the battery.

• Turn off your location based services if you dont use the Maps or GPS. To turn it off go to Settings - General - Location Services.
• Save time and money by turning off your 3G if you dont need it. Not all areas in Philippines have 3G coverage.

• Turn off Bluetooth if you are not using it, like wifi, it continuously looks for signal.
• Turn off WIFI when not in use to conserve your battery.

• If you are in an area where there is no signal, put your phone into airplane mode or turn it off to stop it from trying to connect to cellular network wifi or bluetooth.
• Just like your Macbook, turn down the brightness of your screen so you can extend the battery life. You can also turn on auto-brightness so it can adjust the lighting accordingly.

• Equalizer setting decrease battery life! be careful when applying the equalizer to song playback on your iphone.
• Avoid Extreme Temperature, as stated by apple, Your iPhone works best from 32° to 95° F. You should store it in environments of -4° to 113° F. That’s 0° to 35° C and -20° to 45° C for the metrically inclined. Keeping your iPhone as near room temperature as possible (72° F or 22° C) is ideal.
• Turn off the keyboard clicks sound! everytime you click you expend a little more energy for those clicking sounds, which will just drain the battery.

• Dont leave music playing if you are not using it.
• The Auto lock feature will darken the screen and save a little energy.  Set it to Autolock in 1min.

Here is the reason i came up with list of trying to save power and extend the battery life of the iPhone, take a look at the juice of my phone... less than 20% left and in the red!

Take care of your phone battery to get the most out of it, and always remember that the iPhone doesnt use user-replaceable-batteries so you will have to take it to the Apple store for battery replacement.
