I was hesitant to post it but while refrain from saying anything at the moment but just confirming that I finally got their counter suit and will prepare my reply.
The sms started yesterday and still get them as of this writing.. how do i feel? mixed emotions but the the fight for copyright and how this will affect any dealings with future copyright issues online pushes me forward.

i am 100 percent supporting you.
Keep fighting Anton.
MB are trying to scare you off. I doubt you will loose the case and then there counter claim will be thrown out of the court.
The cheek! The audacity! In other words…ang KAPAL NILA….
Who is the photo editor there by the way, maybe we should all start emailing him/or her….
Count me in if there is a rally.
But Anton, what can be worse than having someone use your work
without acknowledgment/payment?
The answer: Having someone else’s shitty photos credited to you. Yes , this happened to me….
Stay brave, Anton!

You can do this.

Go Anton!
They’re just filing a countersuit just to scare you
We’ll support you all the way! God Bless Anton!
Ask your legal counsel about any precedent in Filipino courts to counter-counter-file against Manila Bulletin (or MaBu as I’ve taken to calling them) for barratry or abuse of process. You know this already, but ganking a photographer’s work to use as feature material in a for-profit publication without attribution or stated permission is definitely well outside the bounds of “fair use.”
Fight the good fight Anton.

Fuck Manila Bulletin. Their so called newspaper is a knock-off of any other american newspapers, they should be paying those fuckers money too!
They call themselves journalist but they fucking steal content and images. What a bunch of fucking amateurs.
P.S: pardon my french….
Go Anton, fight MB! Whatever move you do were behind you!
isang pagpupugay sa iyo! ipagpatuloy ang sinimulan at kasama mo kami. mabuhay!
You’ll be an inspiration to the others out there who are also victims of this kind of infringement. May you win the case, Sir.

Shame on them! No wonder they are one of the poorly circulated newspapers.

Another vote of support for you, Anton. I’ll start by not buying the Manila Bulletin until they admit they’re wrong and subsequently make amends.
I don’t want to patronize a newspaper that steals.
hi, anton!
laban kung laban…=)
now we have a whole new meaning when we say “taking photos / pictures”.
MB just did it literally. it’s not about shooting pictures anymore, it’s about stealing.

You have my support
good luck!
Good luck, Anton! This will be a landmark case, and we hope you get the justice that we all deserve.
Anton,
I guess it’s just SOP by the major daily’s lawyers – when being sued, immediately counter-sue. It’s just legal tactics. IANAL, but I hope they don’t start buying out judges because any judge in his or her right mind should know who has the moral high ground here…
I know its a risk… considering that they filed a counter suit, but I admire your courage and will support your purpose.
Lets fight not only for anton but for every photographers rights!
Let us know how we can help. May justice be on your side.
Stay strong sir. We’re behind you all the way… Just like what the other’s are saying it’s just a way to scare you off. I don’t think they can scare us photographers just like that. Fight kung fight.
Anton,
Rest assured that the whole PinoyPhotography.Org forum and Camera Club is behind you and will support you all the way. Let’s fight for what is right.

Stay strong bro. Everyone is behind you on this.

We as teachers would like to reiterate among our students the value of original content and respect intellectual copyrights. wow. that really takes the cake. i will not buy manila bulletin anymore.
I blogged, plurked, and tweeted about this. You guys should, too. Keep the fire burning until no one can turn their back on the issue, media included, and MB’s moral authority will be severely questioned, just like the Malu Fernandez issue.
Tuloy mo ang laban pare. Akala siguro ng MB kaya nilang brasuhin ang mga artist/photographer.
Go, madami kaming nasa likod mo.
You are not aone.
Mind you, the Manila Bulletin is not the only publication that infringes copyright. Another publication recently infringed a copyrighted photograph from our website. We sent them a demand letter and the editor of the section has not replied in any proper way whatsoever. He never even apologized. Gets me wanting to ask him, “TAO KA BA?”
They cropped out our watermark but forgot about the watermarks on the license plates with our logos.
They instead acted upon it by issuing a stupid “erratum” apologizing for the error. It is NOT an error. It is a malicious violation of copyright which as a respected major daily they should be responsible. The photograph was never authorized for publishing nor did they ever ask permission.
Anton, our group Desert Fox shooters photography club in Saudi Arabia are behind you against this MB news company stealing photos from you.
It is high time that Filipino
photographers here in the Philippines
fight for their rights.
hey anton – good luck and i’m with you on this! i think this is going to be something that will help all photographers.
One thing that all of us could also benefit from this is – what exactly are our rights for our photos here? How can we file for a copyright? I saw that there’s a law about it but I have never read it. It’s time for me to be familiar with that.
Hi there,
Good luck with this. Please keep us updated via your blog and DPP. Post if you need any kind of help. We’ll be spreading the word.
anton,
we met in basilica del Sto. Niño during the sinulog. i think it was 2005 or 04. i’m from cebu.
mabuhay ka! it’s about time that these publication/s who have the habbit to have a “free ride” on pix which are not their property, to have a good challenge.
idadasal ko that you’ll win the case para ma leksyon na sila. at sana you’ll take a big chunk from their sealed piggy banks.
GODSPEED!
vic
Vic,
No need for the introduction, I remember you see you every year in cebu… and not to forget seeing your name in the list of winners in the sinulog photo contest too!
We are going for our last mediation meeting, so far they are not moving.. so looks like we are going to court..
This practice has been going on for some time now, publications/private individuals who unscrupulously steal images from photographers for their own gain.
This will definitely be a landmark case, as no victim has had the courage to do what you are doing.
As a professional in this field I would want to be active in supporting you with this fight for our collective rights as photographers. Please e-mail me if you need help with logistics, or anything else you can think of.
I’ll support you by not buying their paper. so that’s 5 in our family.
Kapal ng MB! Gusto ata daanin sa laki. Well, ano nga nangyari kay Goliath? Full support here! Mabuhay ka Anton!
We are here to support you bro!! The whole Jaycee community supports your cause!! Sue them millions for this.
