I’m wishing you the best in this fight, Anton =) No doubt it won’t be easy and it will probably take a long time (hopefully not too long)…this is something you’re doing not just to fight for your own rights, but for the whole photography industry’s so thank you for doing this instead of just “shrugging it off” and/or “charging it to experience” …. may this case prevent future violators of photographers’ IP rights in our country! Keep us updated! =)

Philippine Photographer Sues Major Daily for Copyright Infringement
Over a year after seeing his photos stolen by a major broadsheet, photographer Anton Sheker finally takes the paper to court.

submitted it to PhotographyVoter too.

We are behind you, ton! Media should respect other people’s property rights and we expect no less from Manila Bulletin being one of the older and more prestigious companies in the Media industry.

Go for it, Anton. Their counter-suit is, I guess, expected, but that does not mean they are in the right. It takes a lot of courage to fight an entity like Manila Bulletin.
But you’re not doing this just for yourself, everyone is awaiting the end of this as this will be the basis of future copyright infringement cases/complaints - especially for photographers. What happened to you has happened multiple times before to other photogs. Bless you for doing this.
July 19th, 2008 at 11:36 am
dear Manila Bulletin….
What are you doing? I thought you are a beacon of freedom, justice and human rights? Shame on you!!!. the ” martial law ” days are over and you are still a cronie broadsheet! Filing counter charges will not get you anywhere. Are you trying to intimidate us? Its so obvious! We will be on this no matter where and when it will get.
July 20th, 2008 at 5:33 pm
Hi Anton, I am so with you on this. I am confident that you’re gonna win this case. I believe that any person let alone that publishing company that has been around for 108 years should know this better. Don’t get intimidated. Go with what you believe.
Now that the internet is around, it’s easier for us to discover the truth: unedited, raw and gritty truth that we need to know.
