5th Lensbaby Photo Contest with the Theme Creative Bokeh

Join now! deadline to submit photos will be Dec 17, 2007 at 12 Noon, PDT.
All of us at Lensbabies’ HQ have been noticing your really creative photos using our Creative Aperture Kit and/or apertures you’ve made yourself. Your photos have inspired us to hold another contest with the Creative Bokeh in mind.
We hope to see you turn up the creativity knob and present us with more awesome photos and maybe even get outside of the heart and star shapes (hint, hint!).
Thank you for making this such a friendly and inspiring forum and good luck in the contest!
On Dec 10, 2007, we invite you to enter the 5th Official Lensbaby Photo Contest, which has the theme of Creative Bokeh.
Lensbabies and “Bokehâ€:
One of our favorite aspects of Lensbaby photography is the smooth, beautiful out-of-focus areas created by the perfectly round openings in the Lensbaby’s aperture disks. These out-of-focus areas are known as bokeh (Japanese for “blur.â€)
Lensbabies developed the Creative Aperture Kit to give photographers more control over the bokeh in their images. Our kit contains one f/4 star, one f/4 heart and 5 blank aperture disks. You can use a sharp blade or scrapbooking punches (available at most Art & Craft stores) to custom-cut the blank apertures into any shape you wish; The out-of-focus specular highlights (bright points of light) in your photos will take on the shape of the opening in your aperture disk.
Please Note: The Lensbaby Creative Aperture Kit works with Lensbaby 2.0 and Lensbaby 3G, but does not work with the Original Lensbaby. Original Lensbaby users can participate by crafting their own custom apertures out of plastic, paper, carboard, or other materials.
With this contest we hope to challenge Lensbaby photographers to come up with the most creative and most effective use of creative apertures. As always, innovation is encouraged, and we are hoping to see a wide range of interpretations of Creative Bokeh. The final deadline to submit photos will be Dec 17, 2007 at 12 Noon, PDT.
Judging for Lensbabies Creative Bokeh Contest:
The contest will be judged two ways. First, we have invited Jack Howard, Online Technology Editor of PopPhoto.com/Popular Photography & Imaging, to be our guest judge. In addition to Jack’s judging we will also have a Popular vote judged by all members of Lensbabies Friends.
Judging Criteria:Entries will be judged on originality, visual impact, technical proficiency and adherence to the theme “Creative Bokeh.” Contestants may use aperture disks from Lensbabies Creative Aperture Kit, or homemade creative aperture disks. Photographs taken with standard, perfectly round Lensbaby aperture disks are not eligible for competition.
