Travelling to Macau hasnt been this cheap! Macau Photos and more..

Here are my Entries from the Zone V Camera Club OTS in Macau. My D2X went on a vacation with Nikon brought it with me to Macau but didnt use it because i had the Rubber grip around the Camera replaced.. now it feels and looks new! I decide to give the Nikon D40 a spin and enjoyed it.. it was so light to carry around.. just used 1 lens the nikon 17-55 f 2.8.. i must be getting old, didnt want to bring all the lenses and break my back walking around Macau and Hongkong!

Macau Photos

My 1st Entry and my favorite.. I was waiting around 15 mins.. waiting for the right moment when someone would lift up his arms to signify the praying action to complete my story of shooting in the temple.. had around 30-40 photos of different combinations, background focused, foreground focused, with lots of smoke from the incense, no smoke.. wide view, closeup view.. i wish this particular one had more smoke in it.. to bring out the “holiness”, “spiritual” or enhance the religious aspect of it…. but when adjusting levels you have to strike a balance because the smoke vanishes once you increase the contrast..

What did the judges say? 2 out of 3 like it.. the 3rd judge couldnt understand what the subject was… it scored a 4.2 out of 5

View of Macau at night

When joining a Zone V contest, I usually get one that i like and use 1 safety shot, this is my safety shot. Taken at the Macau Tower looking down in to the City.. Using a D40 and a 17-55 F2.8 Lens… It was hard to shoot at the Macau Tower because the glass outside was dirty and their was glare from the light inside the building.. notice the 2 steaks of light at the upper left portion of the photo.. I just realized that those were glare from the light behind me and my attempts to cover the whole camera with my towel didnt work..

The tower to the left is the Lisboa Casino and the one to the right with horizontal lines is the Wynn Macau.

What did the judges say? they didnt have any comment about the shot because i guess it was as safe as you would get and no one else submitted the same view .. I scored a 4.21 out of 5 was expecting less but happy that i did get a high score increasing my total and bring up my total ranking from number #9 to Number #6 in the Final Ranking… not bad considering i miss 2 contests..
