Philippine Airlines Photo Contest: Press Release and Updates!
The 1st Philippine Airlines Photo Contest is now set to be the most prestigious photography event in the country this year. The project presenters – Philippine Airlines , Eastgate Publishing Corp, and Oneworkshop, Inc. – formally inked the merger on May 2, 2007 at the Philippine Airlines Office, Makati City. The four signatories are PAL’s President & Chief Operating Officer - Jaime J. Bautista; Rolando Estabillo, PAL’s Vice President for Corporate Communications; Eastgate Publishing Corp.’s Simeon S. Ventura, Jr. – President; and OneWorkshop, Inc.’s Rossano Capili – President.
With this year’s theme: The Beauty of the Philippines, the event aims to widely promote the country’s ecotourism. It is the only photo contest that welcomes all amateurs, professionals, and children alike to participate in the competition – taking photography into a diverse perspective. With the Children’s Category, a first in the country, the event aims to encourage and nurture the talents of the youth. Over a milllion in total of prizes and travel benefits, and loads of freebies await the lucky winners; all from the project’s generous sponsors.The event is, by far, the biggest in the history of Philippine photography – with running events the entire year after its formal launch on June 15, 2007.
There will be touring Trade and Photo Exhibit for partner and major sponsors , free Photo Clinics to be conducted by noted Photographers in the months of June and July in all SM Supermalls (still finalizing details) around the country; a grand awarding ceremony in August; and the traveling exhibit of the contest’s Top 50 entries from September to February 2008. As one of the event’s partners, SM Supermalls will be housing the trade shows and traveling exhibits nationwide in the following SM Malls – Iloilo, Cebu, Davao, Bacolod, Baguio, and the Mall of Asia in Manila. All activities will be featured and supported by the project’s media partners via radio, TV newspaper dailies, and glossy magazines all throughout the event duration. The 1st Philippine Airlines Photo Contest is for the benefit of the Philippine Airlines Foundation’s Ecotourism Projects.This event is in partnership with EPSON and SM Supermalls. More major sponsors will be joining the roster very soon.
