This year we didnt see as much banners as the year before hanging all over.. nothing in your face. One the things that puzzles me is that why is it that the fiesta doesnt seem to be suported by other news networks or even the city of Manila? or maybe thats the impression i get.. but i could be wrong.. another thing that puzzles me is why are they so strict with photographers when these are the same people that show beauty of the festivals and invite people to come and see the next years festivities.. by uploading photos to public sites, or even writing about it in blogs help spread the word about festivals like these.. this is something that happens in the city which people can experience without having ot fly all over the country and spending on airline tickets… maybe its just the photographer in me that gets me all excited about shooting travel..anyway.. photos to come soon!More  ALIWAN FESTIVAL PHOTOS HERE

@ rey – With what I’ve reading in the Net, nagtampo ang Pintados de Passi over Sinulog’s win last year.

what i know is, last year it was supported by BOTH Manila and Pasay LGUs. ngayon manila na lng yata.

no other media outfits kasi Aliwan is a brainchild of Manila Broadcasting Co. another media company. in short, ka kompetensya. but i saw the delayed telecast last year in NBN channel

    @ eric

thats how to stop it from growing.. keep it as their own :) aliwan should be allowed to evolve on its own just like the other fiestas.. i guess it will take a lot of time before that happens.. thats what happens when politics gets involved…

It was our first time to watch the aliwan festival and we had a great time. I wonder why I have not heard of the same before? and this year I had to search details in this blog last week to get the sked. Thank you guys. We would have missed it if not for you….

Meron talagang pulitika sa Aliwan Fiesta pati sa judging kung sino ang mananalo. Masyado nang halata.

the reason why mas konti ang sumali this is because of the elections.

since january, i have beenin contact with dancers from various festivals and all of them wanted to join but the elections hampered their plans.

Based on the omnibus election code, bawal kasi mag palabas ng budget ang mga LGUs right at this time. kasi campaign period na.

if not for theelctions, we couldve the best aliwan sana this year. i know at least five BIG festivals na di sumali because of this.

Congratulations to Lumad Basakanon for being the Grand Champion – third time in a row! That’s quite something far beyond mere luck! I feel so proud to be a Cebuano! Indeed, Cebu has become a world-class haven in all material respects! I also feel proud for all other festivals who have openly shown their “way of life” through their dances. It makes me so proud to be a Filipino by seeing the entire nation unite to one event – the Aliwan! More power to all of us!
