Kinds of Brackets: Choosing one that matches your shooting and preference style.
1. “Camera-Rotating Brackets†– Easy to use, allow you to rotate the camera keeping the flash centered aobve the lens for both horizontal and vertical composition giving you consistent lighting.
What you will be needing if you use this kind of frame.. stable anti twist place so the camera stays centered and stable on the bracket. If you use a Nikon system then you will need an SC-17 to attach your flash head to the camera. I used to use this system but i just find it too heavy and some what limiting because movement is hampered because of the “bulk” and weight of the whole bracket slow you down to a point that you may lose some quality shots…
2. “Flash-Rotating†Brackets – Compact and lightweight. the bracket rotates the flash and not the camera keeping the flash centered oer the lens for horizontal and vertical positions. Generally more compact and lighter than the other bracket models.
I also tried this but didnt like the fact that you would swing the flash from side to side and take the chance that it was clear and that there was no obstruction in the way of the flash… good for fast action but not my cup of tea.. less expensive then then the camera rotator. you will also need a SC17 if cable if you are using a Nikon System only problem here is that you have have to keep your swing tightened because at certain angles the flash head falls and can be quite a jolt if you dont knoe that its coming.
3. Build you own bracket according to your feel and shooting style with “Custom Brackets“
Have only heard of this type of brackets.. may come in handy if you want to customize a bracket to fit either your shooting style if lets say you are left handed or have a certain preference to movement of camera or flash head. made of heavy duty and high grade material to withstand the wear and tear of moving on the go. Most of the brackets are built on 2 principles.. camera rotation or flash head rotation.. picking which you like is easy.. having to live with it is the hard part.. I still have a bracket but dont use it anymore.. i findt that the bulk of the whole bracket makes me look like a Robo cop shooting a wedding.. in a wedding you should blend in and not stand out.. the bracket seems to scream out really loud… i prefer to use creative lighting and shooting for my wedding.. the bracket sometimes comes out more of a hassle then a tool for creativity.
4. Specialty Brackets
Newton brackets seem to be the most compact among the bunch.. handy since you can fold them up and hide them in your bag.. unlike the other frames.. you cant put them in the bag unless you buy a special sized bag for the bracket.

One thing to keep in mind when buying a bracket.. ! some brackets dont allow a provision for battery grips so you may have to sacrifice some power and portablity for quality lighting. The choice is really yours…

When your flash head is on a bracket you eliminate harsh side shadows and “red eye”. You produce a more natural lighting look that will delight your clients and set you apart from on shoe flash head, flat looking photos.

Globe My Visibility wins over Smart 3G in Internet Speed Test in Consolacion, Cebu

Yes am in cebu and looking for things to do.. and this is one of them.. time seems to be moving so slowly here even the internet is slow.. extremely slow…
Tested the speed of Smart’s 3G service here in Consolacion, Cebu
also tried globe’s visibility bandwidth.. and it won over Smart’s 3G service.. by a whopping 11.3Kbps..
still better than nothing.. but i feel like am back to the early dial up days if the internet when it was fashionable to have an ISP… these days Telecom companies have taken over providing Internet Services…
Both test run at Speedtest.ph I wish had better speeds.. been wanting to upload my ALiwan photos but am scared on how long it will take to upload the photos i shot the otherday… seems like 31.80kbps is a long wait to upload the photos..think ill wait till i get to starbucks tom…
why i do these tests? to remind me of the internet speed at this particular moment at this particilar place or for future reference for others to see.. especially if the are coming to areas that I have already covered.. hopefully with my travel around the philippines i can also do bandwidth internet tests to show difference speed connection around the country.. and that is possible to be a mobile warrior in the philippines despite this litte setback.. am sure in time our internet bandwidths and speed shall quadruple or even exceed all our expectations.. but till then all we can do is wait.. so enjoy your read..
