Globe Visibility with HSDPA- Initial Speed tests of the service using speedtest.ph
Ok so i decided to get the Globe visibility service.. I went over to the hub at the digital exchange in glorietta and brought the needed documents and applied, presto, i got the huawei e220 in 30 mins… this was tuesday night.. and the connection was only active yesterday.. late afternoon… yes on a sunday…
Here is an initial test of the globe visibility with hsdpa …. (santiago village)

yes you are reading it right 32 kbps.. in the middle of the sala but our sala is covered with french windows and beyond that we have 8 ft high walls.. at least it stil went thru…
Here is a test i did this morning at the office..
not bad.. 233 kpbs and pretty solid with out much movement in the bandwidth.. but still not getting top speeds or anything close to the 1Mbps mark… (salcedo village)

here is the test of our pldt dsl connection at the same venue to show you the difference in speed.

Here is another test using the DSL… at a different time.. The PLDT speed seems to be erratic and not as stable.. will post other speedtest when i get the chance to use visibility in other areas..

And here is the best test i got today for the globe visibility…

The speed of the connection will always depend on the load and traffic the network is experiencing at any given time..
now i can say i am a mobile warrior not confined to 3g speeds anymore.. not that i will be giving up my smart sim, it would still be good to have the option of using the P10 for 30 mins on smart 3G… when the signal of globe is none existent… did i mention that the huawei e220 works with the smart 3g sim?

I am curious as to who provides this local speedtest as found here –> http://www.speedtest.ph For this site may be not as accurate as this site would like us to believe (esp. if sponsored by a local DSL provider).
I notice that speed test results are higher as compared to those found abroad; but are definitely less biased. I use BraodBand.com found here –> http://www.dslreports.com I trust their results more.

Les,
speedtest.ph is not sponsored by any of local DSL providers… it is under trademark.ph domains.
Results may vary depending on location and load of the servers at the time the test initiated. Speedtest is hosted in California by dreamhost servers.
