    Four contingents coming from Iloilo?
I thought it’s only two from Dinagyang Festival, the Tribu Ilonganon of ATI category and Tribu Kahilwayan of Kasadyahan Contest. But I would like to see them all, they are all great and spectacular.

    Hala Bira Iloilo!!!

The preceding pictures featuring the three festivals from Iloilo.
The Pintados de Pasi of Passi City, Iloilo (consistently a runner up of Aliwan Fiesta since joining 3 years ago)
The Kahilwayan of Sta. Barbara, Iloilo (also a runner up of Aliwan and regular performer in Indepedence Day celebration)
Tultugan Festival of Maasin, Iloilo (joined last year and included on the Top 10 performer at Aliwan Festival

I hope that the “Paghidaet” tribe of iloilo would also be given the chance to perform at the aliwan 2007. If you could remember during dinagyang awards night, Pahidaet won most number of minor awards and if i may described how they performed, very explicitly entertaining!. but with do respect to other tribes they were also magnificent..

  7. Jake on February 26th, 2007 8:29 am

Ed, all of the Dinagyang Tribes are spectacular. Kahit aling Tribe ang ipapadala mo sa Aliwan Fiesta papasok pa rin sa Top 3.

Dinagyang festival is the only festival that has two contingents to join the contest.

Dinagyang Fstival has a good track record in Aliwan Fiesta – the National Streetdancing Competition
    2003 – 1st runner-up
    2004 – CHAMPION
    2005 – 2ND RUNNER-UP
    2006 – 1ST RUNNER-UP
And they are also the only festival which are given previlege to send 2 contingents (TRIBU ILONGGANON AND TRIBU KAHILWAYAN) to the 2007 edition of ALIWAN FIESTA slated on April 26-28 in Manila.

Hope they will capture again the top spots of this contest.

The winning tribes in this year’s Dinagyang competition Tribu Ilonganon of Jalandoni Memorial National High School and Tribu Kahilwayan of the Sta. Barbara National Comprehensive High School are all set for the Aliwan Fiesta in Manila.

They are going to have a send off party this Friiday at Iloilo Freedom Grandstand. The street leading to the grandstand will be closed for the said send off party.

Iloilo will also field a giant float made of indigenous materials carrying a “big warrior” in full Dinagyang costume of the native Atis during Aliwan Fiesta.

Cara Jeanne Sullano will vie for the Reyna ng Aliwan Beauty Contest.

Dinagyang souvenir items, like Dagoy key chains, Ilonggo delicacies, T-shirts and others, will be exhibited for sale at the Aliwan Bazaar.

Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation Inc. (IDFI) will spend P1.3million for Iloilo contingent to participate and reap awards in the annual Aliwan Fiesta.

    Hala Bira Iloilo!

    DASDAS HILONGOS!!!

  25. migoy on April 29th, 2007 3:18 pm

    Hi to All,

I am an Ilonggo and I am cheering for the Dinagyang contingent. Well there’s no lutong macao in the contest. Sinulog of Cebu city really deserves to be the champion. Talagang maganda pinakita nila. Sa entrance pa lng number one na agad..Maganda rin ang dinagyang nga lng may knting bagay lng na hindi na polish sa performance nila. May part kc na parang nagkakabuhol buhol sila pero over all maganda tlaga…Better luck next time Dinagyang…

it has been proven that the Sinulog Festival is the best festival in the Philippines and also in the whole Asia, sooner than later in the whole CONTINENTS….as far as ive known, Lumad Basakanon of Cebu City was the perrenial winner of the Sinulog Festival. They started winning as the Grand champion in 2004 & 2005 and received a lot of awards as the best in costume,2nd place in the streetdancing as well as the best in musicality award. In the short history of Aliwan they overruled among all the other contingents and declared as the GRAND CHAMPION for two straight years….
