Sinulog 2007 update: Basakanon contingent to avoid contest.
Lumad Basakanon of Barangay Basak San Nicolas, Cebu City, a seasoned Sinulog contingent, is planning not to skip next year’s grand parade. Instead, they will opt to make their offering at the fluvial parade where the expenses not as heavy and where disappointment with the organizers is unlikely.
After losing their United States-based sponsor, Rama and choreographer Norman Navarro said they will “lie low†in 2007.
Although their main reason for joining was to offer their thanksgiving to the Sto. Niño, the sponsor was dismayed with the results of the judging, since it left their close to 100 dancers disappointed.
