National Tourism Awards: Kalakbay on HOLD… til 2008?

National Tourism Awards on Hold.

Called the PVCV office about Kalakbay awards and they said that the Awards has been on hold while they overhaul the contest guidelines. If they can finalize the guidelines within the first quarter 2007 then contest will resume next year if not then relaunching will be on 2008.

Information on the Awards.

“KALAKBAY” or “KASAMA SA LAKBAY” literally means “Travelling Friend or Companion.” Borne from the legendary warmth of the Philippine islands and its people, the gracious “Kalakbay” spirit lives within the heart of every Filipino. Initiated in 1989 and spearheaded by the Department of Tourism and the Philippine Convention & Visitors Corporation, the KALAKBAY Awards are held biennially.

The “KALAKBAY” (Kasama Sa Lakbay Kaunlaran ng Bayan) Awards are given to entities and individuals who have distinguished themselves, beyond so many others, in their respective fields in tourism. They are honored by exemplary service and a commitment to excellence. They are recognized for their spirit of “Kalakbay.”
