Does Google own this “was this link useful” link?

I have been noticing this button popping up when i search for a keyword and press the back
button… This is when i searched for cars… am using a mac and firefox as browser have several buttons in my toolbar including the seo toolbar for firefox. Showed it to Benj Arriola he says its not part of the SEO Toolbar.

Here is a search for cars using google.com

here it is using google.com and term ituloy angsulong

If i click yes does it help the google ranking? if i press no does the website get downgraded because it wasnt considered useful?

Will study this mystery button and let update it here..

To get peace of mind i decided to turn off the SEO Toolbar and decided to do the search again..

Here is a search for Philippine photos.. showing the same “was this link useful?” link…

So if its not the toolbar then what is it?

Benj Mentioned that John Battelle was able to blog about it almost a week ago, and Loren Baker reported this on Search Engine Journal just 2 days ago. Hmm.. what weight does this “was this link useful?” carry? what effect does it have on others, what effect will it have on your ranking if someone votes agains you? Will it help your clients?
